As a visiting tutor for the Future Stage Project at Generation Arts, Andrew is a writer, actor, director and facilitator who enjoys teaching young people and emerging artists. One of Andy’s passions is in using new writing and drama to engage young people in educational settings, and he is able to use his limitless energy to carry out this aim at Generation Arts. As a writer Andy has experienced significant recent successes staging and performing in his original work ‘The Me Plays’ at The Old Red Lion Theatre for which he has been nominated for 2 ‘Offies’ – Off West End Theatre Awards (Best Male 2014 and the TBC Award) and achieved numerous 4* reviews. In 2011 he won the Ideastap/ NYT/ Shine Drama ‘Write to Shine’ competition and was the deserving recipient of a two year mentorship from playwrights Lin Coghlan and Phillip Osment. He has delivered workshops in schools across London working with peer assistants and acting as a mentor. A former participant of the National Youth Theatre’s Playing Up programme, he subsequently worked as Youth Programme Assistant on the social inclusion programmes at NYT working with Ali and Michelle, and wrote an original piece which was performed by the young people in The Roundhouse hub space. He has creatively assisted on National Youth Theatre summer courses with young teenagers culminating in a sharing of work at LABAN. Andy is a founding member of Generation Arts.
